Trips
On Monday 16th October we made our way once again to join the Prolific for a sailing adventure from Southampton. The crew was a mix of familiar faces from last year and some new ones. On Monday we had a hearty lunch on board provided by Chef Neil followed by a safety talk on the three 'f's - fire, flood and falling off (the boat). The boys learned how to use winches and were told their watches for the trip and how to work together as a team, some boys had a go at the helm too. We enjoyed a good meal of spaghetti bolognese before arriving at Cowes for the night. Tuesday morning was the perfect weather for a walk through the town and along the beach, sampling a few shops along the way where the boys had a chance to buy a few souvenirs.
Unfortunately for us, storm Babette was beginning to make her presence known so the crew made the sensible decision to halt our sailing until the weather was more desirable. The boys were commendable in how they responded to this, and it did not stop them making the most of what Cowes had to offer with a visit to the Classic Boat museum, a trip on the motorised dinghy and a venture out on to the bowsprit!
