Last week, many boys had a go at writing some poems for National Poetry Day. We presented this as an internal house competition as well as a Bellevue contest. The theme was "Refuge". The boys had some insightful discussions about what refuge means to them and then put pen to paper. The results were impressive. Whether it was the lack of need for punctuation or the freedom of authentic expression, who knows, but the boys produced the goods.
Here are many of the poems [Year 4&5] [Upper Sixth] written by the boys for you to enjoy. The winners and commended poems will be announced in assembly on Monday. The best poets will score big points for their respective houses. We will try to celebrate all kinds of different skills and talents with various inter-house competitions this year. For now, big up the creatives!
