Cricket T20: Colts A XI v Ashfold [A]

The Colts A's returned to action this week against a strong Ashfold side. Captain Jack P went for the toss and we were put in to bat. Bruern started off strongly, with Jack P leading from the front. He top-scored with an impressive 20 before receiving a good ball from Ashfold's first change bowler. Jack H provided support at the other end and they both set a good platform for the rest of the team to build on.

Unfortunately, this was not the case. After our top 3 were out we struggled to build another partnership. Felix P stuck around for 8 overs and provided a bit of stability. However, soon after we had another collapse, which saw our innings come to an end. Ashfold needed 69 to win.

After a quick bit of tea in between innings, we rushed back onto the field to try and finish the game before the heavens opened! Jack P stepped up again and took the first wicket of the match. Despite this, as a team, we gave away too many extras and weren't as sharp as we had been previously in the field. Ebu K picked up a wicket towards the end of the match, but Ashfold got our total with 11 overs to spare.

A tough loss, but lots of positives to take from it. I look forward to seeing this group develop throughout the season. They have a lot of potential. Well done lads, have a nice long weekend!
