Another trip into Oxford saw the 2's on the road again and this time they were playing Christ Church Cathedral school nestled in amongst the wonderful collegiate surroundings of Oxford. The home of such literary greats as Tolkien, C S Lewis and Pullman witnessed the 2's creating an epic story of their own!
Jack W led the team and won his third toss in a row! Deciding to bat George R and Theo R went about setting a positive start scoring a quick 30 runs. This was further consolidated by Monty F and Jack W as the first two pairings put on 69 runs for the loss of no wickets. Pairs is a great game as it epitomizes the team aspect of cricket with EVERYONE contributing to the batting total. A wonderful cameo from Luka M (top scoring with a pugnacious 21 not out!), saw Bruern set up a total of 148 for 4 wickets.
William B and George R spearheaded the bowling once again and took 3 quick wickets for very little runs. Theo R, Monte F, Luka M and James R all contributed with wickets as the boys produced a superb, complete performance in the field. What was truly enjoyable was witnessing the growing camaraderie in the team and how they have begun to enjoy each other's successes. Christ Church ended their innings on 56 for 8 resulting in a memorable win for the second team. Superb performance boys!
Onto next week before the half term break!
