Cricket: Senior 2nd XI v Kingham School [Home]

"They seek him here, they seek him there, they seek him everywhere, that very elusive pimpernel!"
Bruern hosted Kingham Hill at Bruern and on a chilly but sunny afternoon skipper Jack W lost the toss and was inserted into bat. I was reliably informed that after a long time we were once again playing Kingham in a competitive match. Bruern started frantically easily giving our wickets away and only extras were giving us some runs.
The innings called out for one of the boys to play a patient innings and steer the team to a defendable total. Luckily we had such a player. Throughout his time at Bruern he's always exuded a mercurial calm exterior which hides a very competitive spirit. An outward Lord Blakeney with an internal Scarlet Pimpernel. Monte F stood up and scored a very assured 25 not out leading the team to a score of 90 for 8 off 13 8 ball overs.

Our reliable quartet of bowlers William B, George R, Luka M and Jack W then set about defending the total. In another heady comparison these four resemble the famous four who saw England win the Ashes in 2005. This time the fiery pace of Luka M led the attack with a devastating spell of 3 overs 3 wickets for 3 runs. What symmetry!
Bruern were excellent in the field and backed each other up. Kingham were restricted to 29 for 4 off 10 overs before they conceded the game and rushed off to beat the traffic home.

Well done boys! Another great win!
