Cricket T20: Senior 1st XI v The Oratory [A]

On Wednesday, The 1 XI travelled to The Oratory for what would be our penultimate game of the season. With the sun shining and a nice wicket, captain Olly F decided to bat first.

Throughout our innings we struggled to find our feet and build partnerships. Bruno T top scored and looked dangerous as did his partner Alex DB. Unfortunately, we’re kept loosing regular wickets and despite a slight recovery led by Olly F, we found ourselves bowled out for just 52. Special mention to Teddy CF who bravely volunteered to open the batting!

Despite struggling with the bat, the boys were fired up and ready to go after a short tea break. Rupert N and William B bowled a tight opening spell and caused problems for The Oratory’s batsmen. Despite Bruno T securing 2 wickets in 2 balls thanks to catches from Alex DB and Max M, The Oratory secured a comfortable win.

Lots to work on ahead of the final game and I know each and every boy wants to finish the season with a win next week. It was a rare opportunity for me to see this group of boys play cricket, and they did themselves proud. It was lovely to get compliments from not only The Oratory but also The Oratory’s parents on how well our boys behaved. Well done gents, you made myself and the school very proud. Let’s finish on a win next week…!!
