Bruern travelled to the wonderful surroundings of Oratory school. Bruern lost the toss and were asked to bat. The team target was to go at 6 an over, bat the full overs and end up with a total of 120ish. Both openers got us off to a positive start. Matthew M set the tone with a sumptuous backfoot square cut for four in only the 2nd ball of the innings whilst Jago B looked assured and aggressive. Matthew M finally fell with the score 53 for one.
After Jago B fell with a smooth 34, the rest of the batsmen consolidated with a mix of positive hitting and taking any single on offer. Wickets fell from time to time. Special mention must go to Arthur T who came in at the end and maneuvered the ball round to score a well constructed 15 with intelligent running. I was really happy with how the team applied themselves and achieved a target of 117 for 8.
The boys took to the field with the bowlers determined to bowl tight and field well. Collectively they were brilliant with the bowlers sharing wickets around. It was great to see 11 boys fielding with such intensity in blistering conditions! Maxim H was excellent behind the stumps whilst pick of the bowlers were Theo R and Tom B.
Well done boys!
