This week saw the Colts travel to New College School for their penultimate football match of the term. Is it their second to last week of the term? Following the excitement of last week's fixtures; the boys were eager to get a win on the board and they started in excellent fashion. With only five minutes on the clock the boys took a deserved lead following some excellent play down the wing from Bruern's version of David Beckham...(Felix P) - this lead was then extended shortly before half time with another well worked team goal!
The half-time break discussion was about keeping a good shape defensively, but also trying to get more goals on the scoreboard to put the game to bed. As the second half started it was clear that New College were keen to avenge their first half showing. The Bruern defence did extremely well to keep them at bay for the majority of the half, however, unfortunately the defences were breached with ten minutes to play as New College scored two quickfire goals to make the score 2-2. The next ten minutes were action packed and in truth the game could have gone either way as both teams had chances to score. The boys pushed and pushed to find the winning goal, but in doing so left a few gaps at the back and with three minutes to go New College were able to capitalise and score the winning goal to make the score 3-2. A few Bruern boys were fairly disheartened by the final score, given the mammoth effort they'd maintained all game, but they should try to focus on the many positives and not worry about the scoreline, as a victory is just around the corner. Well done for some fantastic attitudes and for fighting right until the end!
