Rugby: Junior House Tournament

As we entered the final week of rugby in the school year, there was a worry that the House matches would be cancelled due to the tumultuous rain we had faced at the weekend!

Luckily the pitches were not completely waterlogged and the boys took to the field in their respective houses. All teams were looking forward to signing off the rugby season with a competitive and enjoyable tournament. The rain kindly held off so the boys were able to enjoy their matches in ideal rugby playing conditions. The format was a six a side tournament with full contact.

All the boys who took part played with joy and commitment to their houses and there were some great tries scored by all the teams as well some valiant defending. Some highlights in the matches I refereed were: Freddie C running the length of the pitch to score a great try with only his second touch! "Twinkle toes" William P jinking his way round every defence to score some great tries. The committed tackling of William W. Lawrence CR's powerful running, at one point brushing off 4 players to score in the corner.

In the end, Wellington came through victorious winning 3 out of 3 but congratulations to all the houses and their participants. It's been a pleasure coaching the juniors this half of term and I'm looking forward to seeing some of them make the transition to senior rugby come September.
